Trainee Mill Hand

Our client is one of New Zealand’s leading bakery suppliers, milling a range of flour, grains and brans our of their Otahuhu plant to supply commercial clients across the country. Due to internal promotion, they are now looking for trainee mill hands to learn the trade from the ground up.

The role:
As a trainee miller, you will be supporting the assistant and lead miller with daily operations, whilst gaining knowledge of the end-to-end process through on the job learning.  

  • Running and monitoring of the automated PLC’s,
  • Materials handling of grains, meals and brans.
  • In process quality checks
  • Cleaning processes

Assisting in setting up and adjusting milling equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency.

The applicant:
Although previous milling experience would be preferred, this role offers a unique opportunity to learn the milling trade on the job whilst earning internationally recognised milling qualifications. The ideal candidate would have a manufacturing background, ideally in a food production environment or engineering capacity.

  • A reasonable level of physical fitness to be able to move around the mill and complete cleaning tasks.
  • A familiarity with basic computer processes, sending emails and basic functions.
  • A team player mentality with flexibility to work overtime as required.

This role is on a 2 weekly rotating shift working 12 hour shifts from 7.00am to 7.00pm for two weeks before rotating to 19.00pm to 7.00am for the following two weeks. Please note: Ability to complete the rotating hours is a mandatory requirement for this role.
