This is a rare & exciting opportunity for a proven and well qualified senior level Engineering Manager with expertise in bespoke mechanical designing and exceptional hands-on sheet metal/SS fabrication & manufacturing knowledge to join a market leader who are instantly well recognised for their brand of high-end locally manufactured engineering products.

Our client is one of the only NZ manufactured options in their market sectors.  They are a well-established and highly successful, medium sized privately owned manufacturing company where their speciality and clear points of difference lie in their bespoke design of premium quality stainless steel products along with their exceptional customer service.  The company’s product range is a prerequisite in most production plants in the following industries: 
  • Food & Beverage
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Dairy & Agriculture
  • Wine
  • Paint & Coatings
  • Waste & Waste Treatment

The owners of this business have successfully, over a lengthy period of time, built a portfolio of extremely loyal customers where they are recognised as one of ‘NZ’s Preferred Suppliers’.  Their client base is a mix of instantly recognised large corporates through to smaller plants across all Sectors.  The company’s success is aligned to their skills in being able to balance their impressive and reliable expertise in design, manufacturing and brilliant customer service that has continued to position them at the forefront of their sector.   

Key Accountabilities:

In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for:

  1. Workshop: Professionally lead and manage the workshop’s workload effectively and efficiently ensuring priorities and deadlines are met. 
  2. Design and Project Work: Using Solidworks 3D, create and design innovative products & solutions as per customers’ specifications from conception to completion.
  3. Key Accounts: Being the front person for existing local key accounts, assist with the growth of the business with canvassing for new business, estimating work and manage day to day customer liaison. 
  4. Health and Safety: Maintain and improve the existing Electronic based Health and Safety system, run weekly Tool Box Meetings, and monthly staff Health and Safety Meetings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: 

  • NZCE (or equivalent), Advanced Industrial Mechanical Trade, or Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
  • 8-10 years’ experience in leading and managing engineering services
  • Proven ability to manage, create and design projects, with a strong planning ability 
  • High level of expertise in Solidworks 3D
  • Self-manage with a drive for continuous improvement, whilst positively influencing team and stakeholders of the benefit of driving the same focus.
  • Financial and analytical skills
  • Strong customer service approach, both internal and external
