Are you a legal professional ready to advise in a dynamic business environment? Join our client as their Corporate Legal Counsel, a role that’s ideal for a Legal Executive, RMA specialist, or anyone with a property law background looking to broaden their impact.

About the role:
Join a Kiwi success story creating value across various sectors including Pharmaceuticals, Dairy and Property development , with a focus on ANZ and Asia.

This role is key to their legal backbone in New Zealand, advising their business units, supporting leadership with crucial decision-making, and managing compliance to help them grow responsibly. Engage in everything from litigation and contract negotiation to corporate governance and CSR initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the go-to advisor on varied legal issues, ideally RMA matters, including subdivisions, land use consents, and environmental compliance, litigation, settlement negotiations, and dispute resolution
  • Oversee corporate and environmental policies, supporting sustainability and social responsibility at every level
  • Partner with internal teams to develop strategies that align with their vision, navigating corporate governance and compliance seamlessly
  • Develop, implement, and train teams on corporate policies, keeping ahead in regulatory and ethical standards
  • Draft, negotiate, and finalise commercial agreements, with opportunities to shape property-related projects and broader commercial matters

What you need to bring:

  • Bachelor of Law Degree or equivalent; Qualified lawyer with a practicing certificate
  • Legal experience gained in private practice or in-house (1-3 years minimum)
  • Sound experience understanding, advising, drafting and negotiating a range of commercial agreements, contract law and litigation
  • Ability to adapt in a wide range of legal areas; eagerness to learn new legal areas
  • Pragmatic and solutions-focused approach and commercial acumen
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to multi-task, prioritise and take ownership
  • Strong written, drafting and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including social, communication and presentation skills – in particular, an ability to form relationships across the company 
  • High levels of integrity, adaptability, diligence, and ownership
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin is a bonus (not mandatory)
